Stephanie St. James
Stephanie St. James is best known for her NAACP Theater Award nominated role for Best Supporting Actress in a musical as “Squeak” in Oprah Winfrey Presents “The Color Purple”. Winner of the 2010 Broadway World Award for Best Leading Actress for her role as Mimi in RENT at 6th Street Playhouse in California, she is the Artistic Director of “The St. James Acting Studio” with locations in Miami, Florida and Santa Rosa, California.
Stephanie has been seen internationally performing in major musicals and theatrical productions for over 30 years and is a proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association, SAG-AFTRA Unions. She has graced the stage for the President of the United States Barack Obama. As an actress she has worked with such renowned directors as Gary Marshall (Pretty Woman, Valentine’s Day, Princess Bride), Kenny Leon (A Raisin in the Sun), Walter Bobbie (Chicago) and many more. Just a few of her most notable/favorite credits to date are Rusty in the Broadway Musical “Footloose”, Mabel in the European Tour of “Fame”, Frenchy in the McCoy Rigby Production of “Grease”, Mimi in “Rent” for 6th Street Playhouse, the World Premiere of “Dorian” and many more.
She received an NAACP Theater Award Nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Color Purple, a Robby Award Nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Footloose, and a Toronto Indie Film Festival Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role in the Film Traces. As a recording artist the Bi-Coastal based singer-songwriter deploys a unique melange of musical styles including soul, rock and pop that defies simple categorization. Radiant with beauty, charm, and charisma, Stephanie St. James is a talent to watch and coach to utilize.
